It's All About the Clothes

I want my hour back!

Posted by: menrvasofia on: April 8, 2010

Well – I haven’t been blogging much lately, as you can no doubt tell.

Ever since the spring forward time change, I just haven’t been able to find the time.  Even getting up in the morning is a real challenge.   I used to jump out of bed before the clocks went forward.  Now I’m hitting the snooze button at least 3 times, giving me an extra half hour in bed.  But that translates into almost an hour behind as I drag myself around the house, feeding dogs and getting ready for work.  I’ve bailed more than a couple of times over the last few weeks.  Last week, my attendance was abysmal.

Another part of the problem is that my workout routine isn’t working out so well.  I’m not that happy with it – it takes too long.  So I’ve been thinking about revamping it.  Thinking about it isn’t the same as doing it, but it’ll get done.

Not to mention, but I will, the courses I’ve been taking.  This term I’m enrolled in Business for Public Relations and I’ve been focused on my responsibilities for that.  I realized I was in trouble when I spent one complete Saturday afternoon viewing the Fashion Week collections from all over the world rather than writing a report on Tiger Woods and his sex scandal.  It was infinitely more enjoyable, clicking through clothes, than thinking about Tiger Woods and his cheating heart.

But really – no excuses – just lack of time at present.

It’s Thursday today – but I forgot to weigh myself.  I saw the scale technician fixing the scale the other day – I knew there was something wrong with it!  Maybe next week it will tell the truth.  Maybe next week, I’ll find a little bit of motivation that I’ll want to measure.

In truth, though, the motivation comes from the clothes that I can fit into now.  There’s still a few things that I have to suck it in for, and I don’t wear those yet, but for the most part, my clothes are beginning to fit better.  It’s like I went shopping for new clothes.  Some things I’ve tried on I forgot I even had.

And as the weather is turning warm, I spent the Easter weekend outside, hiking around Hamilton, up the escarpment, down the escarpment, along the Bruce Trail and through the Royal Botannical Gardens.  Even though the gym was closed, I still got my workout.  So much so, in fact, that I was happy to hit my bed, my legs were so tired and sore.

Which was a good thing too, because I experimented with ice cream over the weekend.  It was so warm and sunny, I heard a cone call my name, or maybe I was delirious with sunstroke.  I tried a few different flavours and thoroughly enjoyed them all.  But I guess my new flavour will be “memories of ice cream” as I vowed to limit my intake in the future – one good ice cream cone is a whole day’s worth of energy.

Well – it’s nice to be back.

Take care,

m.
